The Hamden Dog Park at Bassett Park is a one acre off leash dog area located on at Bassett Park on Waite Street, next to the New Haven Country Club. The site was designated as a dog park by the Director of Hamden Parks and Recreation, and the park was opened in 2002.

Hamden's gates opened to puppies in February 2002, and the park quickly became the premier center for Connecticut's canine community. Just two shakes of a dog's tail from New Haven, the park's tree-lined trails provide a lovely respite for pups and their parents.
